Location of our Seaside Cottages for Rent in Padstow & Little Petherick
Padstow is a popular working fishing port on the North Cornish coast. At its heart is a charming harbour which opens on to the Camel Estuary. Along the crooked streets nestle quaint buildings, cosy quayside inns, acclaimed eateries including Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant and a range of individual shops. From art galleries to ice cream, designer clothes to Cornish pasties, and speedboats to the old-fashioned Cinedrome, there is something for everyone.Poppies and Sorrel Cottage are located amid unspoilt meadows just outside the town, and West Creek Cottage is in the neighbouring hamlet of Little Petherick, a picturesque setting only two miles from the town.
Within a few minutes drive of Padstow are seven glorious bays. Closest to the cottages is Trevone - a great location for families with a delightful sandy bay, swimming and surfing beach (with summer lifeguard), shop, cafe and two large car parks, all in an area of outstanding natural beauty. An adjacent rocky beach is great for spotting crabs and shells, while the rugged headlands offer spectacular views and cliff-top walks.
Other bays include Harlyn with its surfing school; secluded Mother Ivey's Bay now launch for the Padstow Lifeboat; Constantine, home of the championship golf course; Treyarnon with its large natural swimming pool, plus Porthcothan and Booby's. Walks from the town lead to other, deserted bays, while a ferry provides regular crossings across the Camel Estuary to the calm beaches and sailing activities at Rock.
The Camel Trail runs from Padstow to Wadebridge and on to Boscarne along the south bank of the River Camel. One hundred years ago, this was the route of the steam train bringing Londoners to Cornwall, but it is now a safe, traffic-free path for walkers, runners, cyclists and horse-riders to enjoy the coastline and countryside at their own pace. From Little Petherick, walkers can access the Camel Trail via footpaths alongside the creek.
Padstow is situated 1 hour's drive from Exeter via the A30 and A390/A38, while Newquay International Airport, served by 15 daily flights, is only nine miles away. There are also trains to Bodmin Parkway, from where taxis can bring you to the town.
